What We Do

We provide a variety of programs to build relationships with the community and find opportunities to share the hope of Christ through word and deed.

Children

Kids Bible Club
Teaching kids about Jesus is one of our biggest passions! Through a time of worship, Bible teaching, and prayer requests, we get to know the kids on a deeper level and learn how to encourage them on their journey to know God and form a relationship with Christ.

Academic Support
We provide a safe place for kids to read and do their homework with volunteers who love serving and mentoring children. For many parents in the community, English is their second language, and they may not have the resources or time to help their kids with their academic needs. We seek to meet this need by having volunteers available to help children succeed in school and foster a love of learning.

Academic Support

Summer Kids Camp
Many of the children in the community have limited access to extracurricular or academic opportunities throughout the summer months, so LCO hosts a summer camp for them to attend. Programs vary from year to year but often include reading/academics, games, sports, crafts, and Bible Club.

Teens

Teen Bible Study
Our teen Bible study helps teenagers have a safe place where they can come and share their struggles, learn what it means to follow Jesus, and receive the hope and prayer that they need.

Teen Mentorship Program
In today’s world, teenagers need mentors or people that can encourage them in their personal lives, future career paths, and in their walk and faith in Christ. Our mentors build a relationship with one or more teens, pray for them, and encourage them in various aspects of life and faith.

Discipleship Training Program
We provide mentorship, training, and Bible teaching to help students in their junior and senior year grow in leadership skills, as well as spiritual and personal growth. Scholarships are available for students who attend regularly, serve their community, and pass an end-of-the-year exam.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS/EVENTS

We partner with WoodsEdge Community Church and Northampton Elementary to organize a community-wide Backpack Drive, Easter Egg Hunt, and Christmas Party.

At our Christmas Party, we have lots of food and games, and our Kids Bible Club presents a play about Jesus’ birth. The children from our ministry get to be a part of sharing the message of Jesus with their family and community!

We also provide other programs through partnerships with schools and churches as needs arise, including a giving tree, family haircuts, home and garden improvements, etc).

Future Family Programs

Adult Bible Studies: We have provided a women’s Bible study in the past and would like to continue to provide adult Bible studies in our new facility.

ESL For Adults: The community has families from a linguistic background other than English, so learning English as a second language is a need for many adults in the community. We have provided these lessons in the past and seek to re-open the classes once we have our building completed.

Adult Classes/Conferences: We seek to bring experts on a variety of topics that will be beneficial for parents and families in the community. These topics may include parenting, nutrition, exercise activities, financial planning, etc.

Resources and Information: We desire to have a compilation of informational resources to share with families as needed such as local food and clothing pantries, free legal aid organizations, etc.

Prayer Team

Prayer is the foundation of God’s work for Lighthouse Community Outreach. We have opportunities to pray for our ministry through prayer requests sent out in our monthly newsletter and times of praying together for our ministry. Future prayer opportunities will be available as well!
